Open Frame vs Panel Mount Monitor: How to Choose

Open frame vs panel mount — what’s the difference?

An open frame monitor is a bare metal chassis with mounting ears, designed to be embedded inside your own enclosure, kiosk or machine. A panel mount monitor seals to a single panel cutout with a finished, IP65-rated front bezel.

When to choose open frame

Choose open frame when the display lives inside another enclosure — kiosks, POS, vending, custom machines — and you control the front face yourself.

When to choose panel mount

Choose panel mount when the screen is the exposed operator surface and must resist dust, water and washdown — control panels, plant floors, food & beverage.

Both are available across our 17.3″–19″ range. Still unsure? Ask a specialist →
